Get ready for the Winter Switch Off!

Published Date:22 May 2020

The Winter switch-off is coming up on June 1, so it is a good time to start preparing to store sprinkers and turn off irrigation.

Evaporation rates are lower in winter, so gardens and lawns will receive all the water they need from rainfall.

The switch-off started in 2010 as a permanent water saving initiative in Western Australia. In 2018 about five billion litres of water was saved by switching off sprinklers.

The Winter switch-off applies to scheme and bore water users and runs from June 1 to August 31.
