Service connections

Information you need to know to request a new service connection, or disconnect or relocate an existing service.

If you are building, developing or renovating a property, or you require a new service connection, you may need information, agreement or approvals from Aqwest before you proceed.

Have you lodged an application to the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (formerly West Australian Planning Commission)? This may be required.

Please note that any major alterations to pipework or change of commercial usage may require the service to have a level of backflow installed by a licensed backflow plumber.

Apply for a new or additional service connection

A standard supply connection connects a metered water supply service to an existing main, and comprises 20mm water supply pipes. 

If you require a new or additional service connection to your property, please complete a Water Service Application Form.

Once your form has been received, we will provide you with a quote including infrastructure contribution charges if applicable. Please visit our standard fees and charges page for more information. 

Prior to work commencing, the following conditions must be met:

  • payment must be received in full;
  • the property must be pegged with new service location(s); and
  • a plan must be provided with new service location(s) clearly marked. This plan should be submitted with the application form.

When these conditions have been met, work will be completed within 10 working days or on an agreed date.

Relocate an existing service

If you wish to relocate an existing service connection, or lower it into a trafficable or non-trafficable box, please complete a Water Service Relocation or Disconnection Form.

Once your form has been received, we will provide you with a quote. Please visit our standard fees and charges page for more information.

Prior to work commencing, the following conditions must be met:

  • payment must be received in full;
  • the property must be pegged with the new meter location; and
  • a plan must be provided clearly showing the existing and new meter locations. This plan should be submitted with the application form.

When these conditions have been met, work will be completed within 10 working days or on an agreed date.

Please note that Aqwest is only responsible for relocating the meter and it is the owner's responsibility to have internal plumbing connected back to the meter by a licensed plumber.

Disconnect an existing service

If you require your water or fire service to be disconnected, please complete a Water Service Relocation or Disconnection Form.

Once your form has been received, we will provide you with a quote for the disconnection. Please visit our standard fees and charges page for more information.

Prior to work commencing, payment must be received in full. Works will then be completed within 10 working days or on an agreed date.

Order a submeter

If you require a submeter for your property, please complete a Request for Submeter Form.

Please note the following terms for the supply of a submeter:

  • the owner is responsible for the supply cost of the submeter. Please visit our standard fees and charges page for more information;
  • the owner is responsible for the installation cost of the submeter;
  • Aqwest does not install submeters, this should be carried out by a licensed plumber;
  • Aqwest is responsible for the maintenance of the submeter;
  • pipework either side of the submeter is deemed to be internal plumbing and is the responsibility of the owner. Any repairs to this pipework needs to be carried out by a licensed plumber;
  • payment for the submeter is required before or at the time of pickup; 
  • submeters must be collected from the Aqwest Service Centre located at 2 Hayes Street, Bunbury.
