The Koombana Footbridge will be lit up in orange from Monday November 25 for 16 days to highlight the annual 16 Days in WA – Stop Violence Against Women campaign.
Aqwest made the request to the City of Bunbury to help raise awareness of the importance of speaking out to stop violence against women and advocating on behalf of organisations that oppose violence.
The campaign starts on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs to Human Rights Day on December 10.
“Everyone has a role to play in opposing violence against women and Aqwest is very proud to be supporting change in our community and our workplace,” said Aqwest Chief Executive Officer Gary Hallsworth.
“By lighting up one of Bunbury’s most iconic landmarks in the entry statement to the city, it highlights this campaign to everyone coming in and out of Bunbury and helps promote this very important message.”
Aqwest staff will also hold a “Wear orange to work day” and a morning tea on November 28 with all proceeds going to the women’s refuge in Bunbury.
