As part of NAIDOC week, Aqwest is paying tribute to the local Wardandi People and the local Elders who have been involved with the recent naming of the new water treatment plant in Glen Iris.

The new plant has been named “Ngoora Moolinap” to reflect the history of the land - “Ngoora” means ‘water sitting in a well’ and “Moolinap” being a historic name the land was previously known as.

“We value our relationship with the local Elders and together we are collaborating to develop art works and other interpretative displays at the water treatment plant, so it becomes a centre of learning, not only about how water is processed and distributed, but about the Indigenous history and culture of the land and the waterway,” said Aqwest Chief Executive Officer Gary Hallsworth.
